PSV Social Pods
Is your elementary school-aged child interested
in meeting other children in their grade?
Are you interested in trying to make sure our children continue to "see" themselves, if even only virtually?
PSV is creating informal, virtual grade level social pods that will be parent led, grouped by grade (PreK & K, 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th). Together, we will continue to give our children opportunities to connect virtually while also building skills and knowledge.
For lower elementary, we are building social pods who virtually gather each month around a fun book club (as in, the goal is to celebrate reading, have fun, create open-ended discussions around what we liked/didn't like, what we learned, and use it as a door opener for students to make connections that hopefully will grow beyond the initial book discussion). Pods will recommend books, vote on which books to read, determine when to discuss them, and more. It could even simply mean creating a story time where books are read collectively during the social pod. The point is, let's get them together, virtually, and see what happens!
For 3rd & 4th grade and then also for 5th & 6th grade, we are building social pods who virtually gather each month around a fun activity (e.g. virtual game play, electronic private server game play, and/or a group "Outschool" classes). Also led by volunteer parent leadership, the grade level pod will work together to brainstorm activities, vote on them, and more.
The goal is not to provide anything taxing, but rather, something that is easy and a new social, fun, virtual social outlet for our children, starting in October.
We will need at least two parent volunteers to lead the respective pods per 10 children that sign up. In partnership with other PSV volunteer leaders, we can try to ensure our children continue to see themselves this school year, if even only virtually!
