Freshman Cohort

PSV has introduced a Freshman Cohort, where students can build friendships, strengthen their sense of identity and belonging, and learn various protective and additive skills to help them thrive through private school and life!

The PSV Freshman Cohort is part of our High School Leadership Program and gives 9th-grade students a dedicated community during the transition into high school. The Freshman Cohort also serves as a bridge into PSV’s broader high school community, introducing students to future opportunities for leadership, service, and involvement. Students do not need to hold a PSV leadership position to participate in the Freshman Cohort.

What does the year include?

The Freshman Cohort includes a minimum of six gatherings throughout the school year, blending fun, friendship, meaningful conversation, wellness, and practical life skills and information. Registration commits students to participating in at least three of the gatherings, helping them build genuine relationships and experience the benefits of being part of a consistent cohort.

Experiences throughout the year include Sky Zone and Dave & Buster’s social nights; cohort dinners; CPR and first-aid training; guided conversations on wellness, identity, and belonging; and interactive discussions about topics relevant to students as they navigate high school.

Freshmen will also participate in Roads to Respect™ for Private School Village, PSV’s sexual violence prevention program for high school students and parents. Through age-appropriate, interactive conversations, 9th-grade students will explore:

  • Foundations of consent and healthy relationships

  • Sexual violence prevention

  • Online safety

  • Bystander intervention

  • Supporting someone who has experienced sexual violence

The program gives students practical knowledge and tools to foster safer, healthier, and more respectful relationships and communities. Like our Social Pods, the Freshman Cohort is designed around repeated connection. Students have opportunities throughout the year to reconnect with the same group of peers, strengthen friendships, and build a community that can continue throughout their high school years.

What’s the Cost?

PSV School Partners help offset the cost of PSV programs and services but it does not cover the entire amount needed. Participants are charged a fee to help offset additional costs and to secure a real commitment. Registration covers the entire 2026–2027 school year and each activity/gathering include a meal or a snack depending on the time of day:

Early Bird Pricing -- 9th Grade Freshman Cohort: $100 per student, $200 after October 10.

PSV Partnering Schools help cover a some of the costs of PSV programs and resources but it does not cover the full amount. Parents pay a participation fee to ensure a real commitment and to meet the need of covering the remaining cost of the program. Registration fees offset only a portion of the actual program cost. PSV invests approximately $250–$400 per student to provide these experiences throughout the school year.
