PSV Social Pods
Is your child interested in meeting other children
in their grade but in other Los Angeles and Pasadena private schools?
Are you interested in trying to make sure our children continue to "see" themselves in the private school community?
Our low-cost, PreK-8th grade racial socialization program is organized by cohorts: consistent groups where families commit to the full season of events at the beginning of the school year. By signing up and committing to participate earlier, your child will see familiar faces at every gathering, helping them build friendships, strengthen their racial socialization, grow their racial literacy in a safe, joyful space, and it will help PSV create stronger programming because we know set participant numbers.
Families can look forward to culturally responsive games, creative challenges, and meaningful moments designed to empower and inspire students. PSV will provide a six engaging experiences over the school year, collaboratively managed by lead social pod co-chair parent volunteers. Each gathering includes a meal or snack depending on the time of day. Throughout the year, those same parents may organize additional opportunities for students to casually and unofficially hang (e.g. movies, sporting events, bowling) on their own.
Why This Matters...
At PSV, we know that healthy human development can’t be compartmentalized. To truly thrive, our children need to experience racial socialization not only at home or in the community, but also as an integrated part of their private school journey. Research dating back to the 1990s emphasizes the importance and power of cross-school racial socialization—students build stronger identities, deeper resilience, and lasting connections when they engage in these experiences together.
Providing these opportunities outside of schools is meaningful, but tethering them directly to the private school experience makes the impact even greater. There is no better way to nurture our children’s growth than to bring them together in joyful, intentional community across schools.

How Could School Affinity Programs Use This?

Use PSV Social Pod events to strengthen or supplement (affinity group) programming; encourage students (especially affinity group participants) to sign up

Organize extras such as a pre-meetups, carpools, or chartered buses to Pod events

Organize time for connecting with other parents while your children are engaged
What Does It Cost?
PSV School Partners help offset the cost of PSV programs and services but it does not cover the entire amount needed. Participants are charged a fee to help offset additional costs and to secure a real commitment. Registration covers the entire 2026–2027 school year and each activity/gathering include a meal or a snack depending on the time of day. Cost per pod level:

Early Bird Pricing: PreK–4th Grade Social Pods: $50 per student, $100 after October 10.

Early Bird Pricing: 5th–8th Grade Social Pods: $75 per student, $150 after October 10.
Registration fees offset only a portion of the actual program cost. PSV invests approximately $250–$400 per student to provide these experiences throughout the school year.
